Dear Friends and Family,
This year has been full of changes for our household. In February we traveled to London, England, for Jenny’s brother David’s wedding to Amanda Buxton, a terrific girl he met living in London. She is just as weird as he is, and we love her.
As we looked forward to the birth of our first child, we decided the house in Tipton wasn’t practical for a variety of reasons, so Tim spent eight long weeks getting the house ready to sell with the help of lots of great friends. We found the perfect house in Noblesville, and all things went together for our house to sell quickly so we could buy the house that fit our needs.
We were fortunate to make a trip out to South Dakota to visit Tim’s folks in Watertown over Father’s Day. Tim’s brother’s family was also there, and it was great spending time with everyone. On the way home, we had the pleasure of stopping off to visit friends and family in Minnesota and Chicago as well.
Tim kept busy at work at Beckman-Coulter as a couple of top-priority projects came to his small software group. After work Tim fixed up the Tipton house to sell and then the Noblesville house to live in. The new house needed a style update, which Tim tackled by removing layers and layers of “lovely” 1970s wallpaper, then priming and painting. New carpet and floors finished the job in time for the movers.
Jenny continued to work at Conner Prairie, spending her winter volunteering in the library transcribing a diary written from 1895 to 1925 by an Indiana farm wife, and the spring developing a certification program for Conner Prairie’s historical interpreters. It was exciting creating a program and then implementing it with a group of volunteer “guinea pigs” for testing.
The most exciting change this year was the arrival of Mark Daniel Sherrill on Sept. 27. We were so excited with the birth of our son, who arrived healthy and in perfect time. Mark weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long, and was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. He has his mom’s dark blue eyes and the makings of blond hair, though as of Christmas, there still wasn’t much of that! We are excessively proud of this beautiful baby (of course) and have fallen in love with his charming personality and generally pleasant disposition. By December, he’s sleeping better (though still not through the night), smiling and laughing, and making everyone crazy about him! He even got to appear in the church’s Sunday School Christmas program!
Mark joins two cousins, Abby Sherrill, Tim’s brother Dan’s daughter, born in January, and Jonathan Vinson, Jenny’s brother Brian’s son, born in May, so there are lots of happy grandparents, too.
It’s wonderful to keep in touch with all of our friends and family. Keep in touch with us, and come visit when you’re around. More photos are posted on our website: http://thesherrills.com; if you’re not online, drop us a line and we’ll send you some pictures.
